New issue 38167 by micah.stetson: Crash: bus error a few seconds after
launch
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=38167

Chrome Version : 5.0.307.11
URLs (if applicable) : N/A
OS version : 10.6.2

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Launch Chrome

Chrome crashes with a SIGBUS in ChromeMain + 5478081 a few seconds after
launch. This is a
brand new installation of Chrome. I've removed Library/Application
Support/Google/Chrome and
tried the install again with the same result. I did not import preferences
or bookmarks from Safari.
After the browser window appears for the first time, Chrome works for a
small number of seconds,
then I get the attached crash report.

Not able to reproduce this issue. Please latest install latest builds and
retry..
http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/continuous/mac/?C=M;O=D

Can you please attach us the Break pad generated crash report if this
problem
encounters again to you.

Steps to get the report:
- Launch Chrome > Preferences > Under the Hood > Enable "Help make Google
Chrome
better by automatically sending.sa.."
- Reproduce the browser crashes
- Open ~/Library/Breakpad/Chrome_Mac/

Attach the newest files to this bug with the version number of Chrome you
are using.

Thanks.

Comment #4 on issue 38167 by r...@electronicinsight.com: Crash: bus error a

All of a sudden last week Chrome crashes immediately upon trying to run it.
I didn't install any plugins except for the new Flash Debug 10 Player, but
that was a couple weeks ago. Attached is the stack trace. What else can I
give you to help figure this out? When I try to run from command-line I
get "Bus error".

Chrome version: 14.0.817.0
OS version: Ubuntu 11.04

Getting the same problem. Chrome crashes with "Bus error" a few seconds
after launch. It never fully displays the browser window before crashing.
Things I have tried:

* Deleting my ~/.config/chromium directory.
* Purging and re-installing all chrome-related packages.
* Running chromium-browser under strace.
* Compiling and running the latest snapshot from source code.
* Reinstalling all packages with changed files as reported by debsums.
* Purging the "chromium-browser' package and installing the latest stable
Google Chrome.

The last step yields a functional browser.
