Followup from https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=586911

> MP4 is just a container for audio and video data

Yes, I realize this. I was a co-creator of it while at Apple on the
QuickTime team.

The comments from sande...@chromium.org were red herrings, until the final
one that identified the MPEG4 vs H.264 content.

The problem with Chrome and MP4 has be reoccurring for several years. It
made sense to add my comments to the issue above, rather than start a new
thread with the same complaint.

> Your problem is not the same as this issue; it should have been filed as
> a separate issue.

How would I have known this? It appeared to be the same issue. MP4 files
are not playing, and I was providing Google additional data to help resolve
the issue. I think that did in fact help clarify the issue.

> Chrome does not support MPEG4.

How would a user know this? I've search, several times, and cannot find an
official statement from Google that Chrome does not support MPEG 4 video.

Why doesn't Chrome show a message that it does not support the data rather
than making it appear to be a problem? Terrible user experience here, when
a simple message about the video format not being supported would have
resolved the issue.

Better question - Why does the iOS Chrome browser support the very same
file you just said Chrome doesn't support?

How is it that several open source free software can play MPEG4 video, but
you claim Chrome cannot be cause of "royalty payments"? You cannot argue
Chrome doesn't support MPEG4 because it does on the iPhone. You cannot
argue Chrome does not have a license for MPEG4 playback, unless you are
admitting they are violating the law the the iPhone.

And since every video software on my Mac can playback MPEG4 video, there
has to be a way that Chrome can also do so at least with a plugin.

So we're in a bug vs feature request argument? Plus a distraction about
licensing? If it works on iOS Chrome and not Mac Chrome, the arguments
above make no sense.

If Chrome does not support content, then show an error. That at least is a
bug.
