What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. run google-chrome
2. go to https://mail.google.com/
3. sign in to gmail

What is the expected result?

my gmail inbox

What happens instead?

the following error is shown:

Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.

I am on ubuntu karmic. After clearing the cache, I can see the gmail login
window (and the error appears after trying to lo in), otherwise I see the
error immediately when accessing gmail.com. If I run google-chrome from
the terminal, I see the following errors when accessing gmail:

[5162:5176:16070540214:ERROR:net/socket/ssl_client_socket_nss.cc(1298)]
handshake failed; NSS error code -5961, net_error -101

I can access google calendar and google docs. I am in a university and
probably behind a university firewall (I do not see this error from home).
Firefox works at work and at home. I attach here chrome-debug.log
