Odd one about this is that you seem to be trying to install the Canary on
top of the Beta. Not sure why that would be.

I have the same issue but do not have the beta installed. I have Chrome

alongside the Stable release.

For folk reporting this, is it possible that you were launching the Canary
version of Chrome from inside your regular stable channel Chrome? Does this
also occur if you open Canary Chrome via the desktop link?

Also, please could you attach the values in the following registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Update\Clients\{4ea16ac7-fd5a-47c3-875b-dbf4a2008c20}
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Update\ClientState\{4ea16ac7-fd5a-47c3-875b-dbf4a2008c20}

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Update\Clients\{8A69D345-D564-463c-AFF1-A69D9E530F96}
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\Update\ClientState\{8A69D345-D564-463c-AFF1-A69D9E530F96}

Thanks!

Please attach %TEMP%\chrome_installer.log. It may provide clues. I suspect
pv in the registry is being paved, but why the SxS value? We have a similar
open issue, I believe.

is too boring :P

Don't know if it's relevant, but beta channel's 21.0.1180.64 (on Win7) has
the same problem. Rolling back to 21.0.1180.60 (Stable) everything works
fine.

Comment #21 on issue 140779 by robertsh...@chromium.org: Chrome canary not
loading
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=140779

There are a couple of issues here, it will be important not to conflate
them.

The first one is Chrome not starting at all because it can't find
chrome.dll. This is bad but I have a potential fix in the works. Please
could you let me know if you have seen this on a version other than Canary.

The second one is Chrome starting and doing something unhelpful, like
hanging or refusing to load pages. Comment #18 is a good example of this.
This is also bad, but please could we track this kind of problem in a
separate bug (for my own sanity). This one looks promising:

Comment #22 on issue 140779 by ja...@autronix.com: Chrome canary not loading
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=140779

I did start a separate issue last night, didn't seem to be looked at:

https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=140703&can=8&colspec=ID%20Pri%20Mstone%20ReleaseBlock%20OS%20Area%20Feature%20Status%20Owner%20Summary

I wasn't sure whether this issue (140779) was the same as the one I posted
on 140703 or not.

Comment #27 on issue 140779 by jsc...@chromium.org: Chrome canary not
loading
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=140779

The issue with pages not loading was due to Avast Antivirus attempting to
inject code into Chrome's sandbox. That is tracked in bug 140982, has been
fixed on canary, and will be pushed to beta very soon.

Comment #29 on issue 140779 by vivi...@chromium.org: Chrome canary not

http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=140779

I was able to reproduce this issue in 21.0.1180.64 and 22.0.1228.0 (
yesterday's dev) with Avast anti-virus software installed.

tested in today's canary 22.0.1229.0 build@150285, issue verified as fixed.
tabs are loaded with no problem.
