This problem seems to be fixed in Chrome 14 for Windows. (It was never a
problem in the Linux version.) BTW, the link shown above is out-of-date.
Here is the current link showing the improved (smooth) image gradient
rendering.

If you have both a Windows version of Chrome 11 and 14, there is a major
difference.
