New issue 79701 by JohnSC301: Certain javascript processes are able to get
by Chrome's popup blocker.
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=79701
Chrome Version : 10.0.648.205 (81283) Ubuntu 10.10
URLs (if applicable) : http://www.snopes.com/snopes.asp
Other browsers tested:
Add OK or FAIL after other browsers where you have tested this issue:
Safari 5: no problem
Firefox 4.x: no problem
IE 7/8/9: no problem
Opera 11.x: no problem
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to the URL I gave you.
2. The popup does not always happen, but when it does it ALWAYS gets by
Chrome, while every other major browser has no problem stopping it.
Please provide any additional information below. Attach a screenshot if
possible.
I believe that this is an issue with this issue:
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=54257&q=api%20extension&colspec=ID%20Stars%20Pri%20Area%20Feature%20Type%20Status%20Summary%20Modified%20Owner%20Mstone%20OS
In the meantime, I use better popup blocker to make up for chrome's miss.
In the other browsers, I have the javascript processes blocked for the
advertisements that appear on that site. Ghostery, notscripts, no script,
etc.
This is an issue that really has to get resolved. It has been far too long.
