New issue 59621 by dmsuperman: Chrome has no option to disable the ctrl-q
shortcut
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=59621
Chrome Version : 6.0.472.59 beta
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Use your browser as normal
2. Go to hit ctrl-tab or ctrl-w or ctrl-a or ctrl-1
3. Accidentally hit ctrl-q
What is the expected result?
I should either be able to disable this hotkey, or it should confirm my
decision (but only on the hotkey)
What happens instead?
The browser closes instantly, all of my open tabs are lost and any work
that I had open (in addition to all the time I spent opening all the tabs I
have open) is _lost_.
In the past week alone I have accidentally closed my browser so many times
that I _broke_ my keyboard in frustration today because I slammed my fist
down on it. It's absurd that I can't disable this "feature", or at least
get a confirmation that I want to actually instantly discard all of my
progress on all of my tabs. Ctrl-q is incredibly easy to accidentally brush
Additionally, in my setup ctrl-q is almost never the way to close an
application. If it were able to be changed from ctrl-q to whatever every
other application on my computer uses that would be just as acceptable.

Might it be possible to build a Chrome extension which modified the default
Control-Q behavior?
This. So much.
this is pretty god damn annoying and I dont think chrome team is paying
enough attention to it! just lost bunch of tabs and naturally pissed!
Workaround, add a keyconfig/shortcut manager plugin and override the ctrl+q
setting to something else.

This is not a work around at all as Ctrl-Shift-q does NOT show up in the
list of shortcuts. Even trying to add it in manually and set the action to
something else is impossible as chrome tries to shut down when you enter
the value into the shortcut box. This is the most retarded thing about
this god damn browser, how many sessions do I have to loose because I'm
pressing Ctrl-Shift Tab and I touch Q by mistaken. I mean how the hell did
yuo guys not realize that putting a shortcut that closes the entire browser
WITHOUT PROMPTING THE USER so close to two MAJOR shortcuts would be a
horrible horrible idea?
