New issue 410648 by n...@semenkovich.com: Chrome 64-bit enterprise MSI
won't install
https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=410648

UserAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like
Gecko) Chrome/39.0.2138.3 Safari/537.36

Steps to reproduce the problem:
The provided Chrome 64-bit enterprise MSI won't install
(googlechromestandaloneenterprise64.msi).

This is over a pre-existing MSI install of the 32-bit version.

The UI displays:
"""
Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A
program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your
support personnel or package vendor.
"""

What is the expected behavior?

What went wrong?

(+wfh in case this is related to a 32-bit to 64-bit update.)

The .msi should not fail if Chrome is running. Could you look for and
attach C:\Windows\Temp\chrome_installer.log? Thanks.

If you have disabled Chrome updates in machine policy you will need edit

Rechecked the issue on Windows 8 with MSi packages. Followed the below
steps:

1) Installed chrome 42.0.2311.152 .msi (32 bit) Package
2) Launched chrome
3) Over installed chrome 43.0.2357.65 .msi (64 bit) Package
4) Navigated to chrome://chrome, page gets updated and asks for relaunch
5) Relaunched chrome and it gets updated to latest (64 bit) .msi package
installed.

No errors displayed. Please let us know if we missed out any thing here.
