We probably don't need subpixel rendering for high-DPI. After confirming
that this is the case, I should disable it there (possibly by adding a new
flag to control it instead of by using FontConfig, which feels a bit hacky
even though we're doing it right now for Stumpy).

Cool, yes. I think we all agree we shouldn't need subpixel rendering on
High-DPI. Do you see this as being required for sub-pixel positioning (to
avoid the color fringing issues you saw)?

It may be required if we plan to use subpixel positioning on low-DPI, but
it doesn't block it on high-DPI (which is high-res enough that the fringes
are less noticeable).

fontconfig: Disable subpixel rendering for high-DPI.

Also add checks that the default fontconfig settings are
aligned with the settings that we want to use.
