Gmail app doesn't notify on new mail

The gmail app that's included in chrome 6.0.472.25, doesn't show any
type of notification when an email is received, even though in the
manifest.json file it says notifications is enabled in permissions.
Also the web app tab just looks like a pinned tab.

The fact that the notification permission is specified, does not mean the website implemented any notification showing.

GMail, apparently, still does not support this feature.
Remember, this GMail app is not official or anything, it is for testing purposes only.
