Ive read on here that MIME type must be changed to this so I can place
my app on my web server. But I am new to this stuff and have no idea
how to change MIME type. Is this something my web server must already
have or is it something I can change myself?

If you're using Apache, the configuration directive for specifying Mime types is documented here:

Depending on your web server configuration, it can be as easy as creating a .htaccess file in the directory of the .crx file with that single line of the mime directive in it.

Is the .htaccess fill just a text file with the extension changed
over?
