I have an app of the Chrome Web Store called "Webcam Toy". It has
nearly 200,000 users and an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. But
yesterday it was removed from the store because it is, apparently,
"spam". Yes, that's right. Spam.

It's still available as a link here:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lfbgimoladefibpklnfmkpknadbklade
but it does not appear under search, nor in the list of available
apps. I attempted to resubmit the app but for some reason it was not
approved. Why on earth would be app be marked as "spam"? Can someone
please help?

Thank you,
Paul.

It looks like that link to my app has actually been removed also (I'm
seeing a cached version of the page). Here's an screenshot instead:

So, great. My very popular app is "spam". Thanks Google!
Paul.

It's working for me from both the link and through search. That doesn't answer the question of why it was removed, but hopefully it was just a temporary issue.

Google have restored the app now - panic over! The problem was due to
my app was not using a verified website as its author. It was flagged
as spam because of this policy:

"Do not post an app where the primary functionality is to link to a
website not owned by the developer." http://code.google.com/chrome/webstore/program_policies.html

Still, it was an odd and terse response from Google. They could have
notified me first and asked that I update the app information, rather
than removing the app completely and labeling it as "spam"!

Best,
Paul.
