Hello

I upload the our app update, but our users can’t add it to Google Chrome and they get this message “Package is invalid.  'Could not unzip extension" ”. I’m sure I did everything right, as other app added by the same way works correctly. Then I tried to add the update once more, but it’s not uploaded in Chrome. I see only revolved gear and nothing is happened. Also I can’t upload the update to Firefox. I checked using HTTP Sniffer and got the message about mistake “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 503 (Service Unavailable)”. Could you help me to know why it is happened?

I'm also getting this issue too, my packaged app gives the error when I try to install it from the Web Store:

"Package is invalid. Details: 'Could not unzip extension'."

My app worked initially, I changed some copy and updated the package, now this error throws every time. I've tried reverting to the original but this still happens.

Extension ID is mnkkdegjndhgggcijmiacehlaolomkdb. I've seen other threads on this but none have a solution, anyone found a way around this?

Hi Mark,
This is happening to me too
I have posted my question here thinking it was related.
https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/forum/?hl=en&fromgroups=#!topic/chromium-apps/AGyj_pvz5RA

I have also tried creating a new app based on a tutoriel app from google .... same results

It appears that either my account is "restricted" or the Chrome store is having some issues at the moment. (although I can still install other extensions which is weird)

here is the test I made

Here is my app

As I mentioned in my previous post, I have also tried:
- rolling back and removing 9/10th of my code but the extension still won't install from the google chrome store.

Also tried to create a new extension based on; https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/examples/api/contentSettings.zip
 weirdly that's not working either

- Zipping the folder from Finder and Terminal (Mac osX / Winrar win7)

None of this worked!

This is working for me now. The only change I made was having my files in the root of the zip, instead of inside a folder (never had to do it like this before).

Not sure if this fixed it or if it was just a server problem that has been resolved. Give it a go though.

I apologies for my previous answer, I should have read the message twice.

Anyway, it's working !!!!

Thank you so much, I had not think about this one (since it was working yesterday).

So just to make things clear.

If you are having trouble downloading your chrome extension from the chrome store after making an update. Or receive  the message "Package is invalid. Details: 'Could not unzip extension'".

Try Zipping all the files of your extension from the root of the folder instead of zipping the folder itself.
