Hi,

On Chrome 139 it looks like the "prefix" assistant message property is only enabled if you have the following Chrome flag active: "Prompt API for Gemini Nano with Multimodal Input"

If that flag is not active, you get this error message when you try to use "prefix": "NotSupportedError: Assistant response prefix is not supported."

Is there any rough sense of when "prefix" might become available without needing a flag?

Thank you, Scott

You're right. The prefix property only works for Multimodal Input for now.
See https://chromium-review.googlesource.com/c/chromium/src/+/6651313 for details.

There's no ETA yet regarding when it would become available without needing a flag.

Note that you can enroll in the Origin Trial for Multimodal so that your users don't have to enable this flag.

Thank you for the info, Francois. We'll register for the Origin Trial.

Kind regards, Scott
