Hi,

I’ve been using the AI Assistant capabilities in Chrome without any issues until today. Suddenly, I’m getting this error:

"The model took too long too many times for this version."

Here’s what the console shows:

I’m on Chrome Version: 131.0.6768.4 (Official Build) dev (64-bit), which just updated this morning. Not sure if the update caused this, but everything was working fine before.

Anyone else run into this or have any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Facing the same problem. Retired downloading again multiple times and --user--dir also worked for some time. But again the same error.

Hey all,

This problem should go away if you wait for a while. There's an internal counter that gets reset after a while, which explains why the "starting with a new profile" trick works (you get a new counter). Figuratively, it's like the model getting too "hot", and you need to let it "cool down" for a while. Are you making many parallel requests by any chance? If so, this could be a reason.

Cheers,
Tom

How can I solve this issue (manually reset the counter)? Every time this error occurs,  I have to redownload Chrome to make it work.

Did the tip from above to start with a fresh Chrome profile not help? It solves the problem in my tests. See this article for background: https://developer.chrome.com/docs/web-platform/chrome-flags#:~:text=To%20run%20Chrome%20from%20the,Beware%20of%20flag%20conflicts
