Hi Chrome WebAI Team,
I hope you’re doing well.
I’m an Early Preview Program participant currently building a Chrome Extension for the Built-in AI Hackathon 2025 — our project is called AI Study Buddy.
I’ve confirmed that Gemini Nano (v3Nano) is fully installed and available on my device (LanguageModel.availability() returns "available"). However, the JavaScript bindings for the built-in AI APIs (window.ai, window.ai.summarizer, etc.) still appear as undefined, both in extension and page contexts.
I’ve verified the following:
Chrome Canary version: 140+
“Prompt API for Gemini Nano with Multimodal Input” flag: Enabled
Model status: Ready in chrome://on-device-internals
Running on macOS (Apple Silicon)
Restarted Chrome multiple times; APIs remain unavailable
Could you please confirm if API bindings are still being rolled out gradually to EPP participants?
If so, is there any estimated timeline for when EPP users like me will start seeing window.ai appear in DevTools?
I’d love to continue testing and contributing feedback for the Summarizer and Translator APIs.
Thanks so much for your guidance and for letting us be part of this exciting phase.
Warm regards,
Prashant Naikar
