Hi, question to the Chrome team,
To participate in the upcoming WebMCP origin trial when it's announced, should I anticipate that I'd be registering for the trial with both a website with tools and a Chrome browser extension (extension ID) as the actor to call the site's registered tools?

Exciting updates from I/O, congrats on all your progress
Sorry if I sent this to the wrong email before. My company blocks external Google Groups access so I have to interact through email :oof:

Hey Kathy,

Yep! The origin trial will give you a token that works for both websites and Chrome extensions.

Origin trial also mentions support in Gemini in Chrome. Will that come along with it or will we have to enable that separately to try that out?

Origin trial support will only enable the WebMCP API.

WebMCP integration with Gemini in Chrome, on the other hand, will be a separate thing and will come later.
