I see a valid version number

chrome://components->Optimization Guide On Device Model - Version: 2025.8.8.1141

I have the following flags enabled.
Prompt API for Gemini Nano: enabled
Enables optimization guide on device: Enabled BypassPerfRequirement

I see the following from chrome://on-device-internals/
Foundational model state: Ready
Model Name: v3Nano
Version: 2025.06.30.1229
Backend Type: GPU (highest quality)

When I type the following on the console:
await LanguageModel.availability()
it prints 'available'

When I type window.ai, it prints undefined.

Any ideas why?

I also signed out of the browser, closed it and opened it to no avail.

Thanks for helping.

New Chrome use LanguageModel now.

Window.ai is obsolete.

Hi Beddhu,

As Connie said, `window.ai.*` is obsolete. You likely followed an external tutorial or blog post that wasn't updated. We know ourselves how taxing this is with the non-shipping APIs being actively worked on, but we try really hard to keep the official docs updated. Should you notice an issue, please just let us know on this mailing list or via direct email, and we will do our best to help and make it right.

Cheers,
Tom
