We intend to prototype browser changes to mitigate bounce tracking on the web. We do not have a final design yet, but this will likely involve deleting storage from sites that appear to be bounce trackers when users have blocked third-party cookies. See the explainer for more details.
Redirects can be used to implement cross-site tracking of users. In addition, redirects can be used to simulate third-party cookies even when the user has chosen to block third-party cookies. The primary goal of this effort is to mitigate these privacy issues.
Does this intent deprecate or change behavior of existing APIs, such that it has potentially high risk for Android WebView-based applications?
