Larger String Lengths

I need the ability for larger strings lengths other then 256mb I need like 1 gb so I can save and load files for my midi sequencer website I'm building which stores all the sound samples as blobs in a JSON object

The browser (or tab) will probably freeze for a long time (it already freezes with 256 megabytes, I believe), so I strongly suggest that you think of an alternative solution.
