Trial extension end milestone:
136
Experiment Extension Reason:
We request to extend the origin trial to M136 to give sites more time to test with third-party cookies restricted.
Although we are developing an experience focused on elevating user choice instead of third-party cookie deprecation, it’s important for businesses and developers to prepare for a likely increase in Chrome browsers without support for third-party cookies, and to continue investing in privacy-enhancing technologies.
Since the last time this origin trial was extended, we have made substantial progress toward designing a new standard mechanism for sites to run experiments with third-party cookie restrictions enabled. This mechanism is still under review. In the meantime, extending this trial is necessary to continue allowing businesses and developers to perform broader testing of alternatives to third-party cookies ahead of any increase in Chrome browsers without support for third-party cookies, and to continue providing valuable real-world feedback on those alternatives.
Quick question on timing:
The last extension was approved from M131 to M133, which means
the experiment has been expired since 134 (which is the current
stable release, with M135 scheduled to start rolling out
~tomorrow.
If you request to extend to 136, you're going to be a bit "shortchanged" on the 3 month renewal request. Does it make sense to request a breaking extension, from 135 to 137 inclusive instead?
Also, do you have any pointers to the other mechanism you mention?
thanks,
Mike

OK - thanks.
LGTM to extend from 135 to 137. I don't have concerns about burn
in, since this isn't a new API, but merely allows sites to
restrict 3P cookies. But, I am looking forward to hearing more
about whatever else you're working on so we can build some
confidence this OT has a real expiration date.
