Hi API testers,
We have started an experiment for Cross App and Web Attribution Measurement via the Attribution Reporting API. Cross App and Web Attribution Measurement allows attribution events on the mobile web to be joinable with events in Android’s Privacy Sandbox.
What does this mean for me?
Testers may see a new header (Attribution-Reporting-Support) that specifies whether Cross App and Web Attribution is available.
If the Cross App and Web Attribution Measurement use case is of interest to you, consider experimenting with it by registering for the origin trial and reviewing the web explainer and the Android explainer. Keep in mind that:
The trial will be rolling out on Chrome Canary & Chrome Dev channels on Android 13 devices early this week. The privacy-sandbox-ads-apis flag can also be used to enable the feature locally.
We plan to make the trial available to Chrome Beta and Stable channels in the coming weeks. We will update this thread as this happens.
Currently, either the Cross App and Web Origin Trial token or the Privacy Sandbox Relevance and Measurement Origin Trial token is required for Cross App and Web Attribution Measurement functionality.
While General Availability is planned for the relevance and measurement APIs in Chrome 115, Cross App and Web Attribution Measurement is not currently planned to hit general availability with Chrome 115. The Cross App and Web Origin Trial token will still be required at that time.
If the Cross App and Web Attribution Measurement use case is not of interest to you, you may still see the new Attribution-Reporting-Support header. You can ignore the header.
