problem with cros deploy autotest-tests on caroline

I ran into this error:

in fact the autotest-tests ebuild RDEPENDS has:

tests_camera_V4L2? ( media-libs/libyuv )

but I don't understand why I am getting the error on cros deploy, and
not when building the test image.

BTW, emerging and deploying libyuv to the device did NOT fix the problem.

Shot in the dark, does running `cros deploy --deep` work?

... and we achieve partial success! The error is now

emerge: there are no ebuilds to satisfy "chromeos-base/autotest-tests-cheets".
(dependency required by "virtual/autotest-tests-3::cheets-private" [binary])
