HTML input type date native datepicker cancel button / clickoutside issue

Hi,
I'm using <input type="date"/> in my web application. The native dialog to pick a date is triggered correctly however in some devices, cancel button and clicking outside the dialog seem to operate just like the 'Set' button (the dialog closes and the value of the input is updated).
Does anyone have any feedback on that matter? Is this a chromium-specific or os-specific issue?
