Every time I post an update of my extension to the store, I get a ton of Chrome users who are confused because they don't see it available anywhere.
You can see an example in the release notice I just posted:
https://www.facebook.com/Socialfixer/posts/122096041285358

I would love it if I could force a synchronous release for all users, rather than some users having to wait hours before the new version is available to them.

This would avoid considerable confusion, frustration, and support time from me.

Thanks,

Matt Kruse

The user can click on "Update extensions now" when "Developer mode" is on, in chrome:extensions.

You cannot force an update. Just mention in your post that the update is being rolled out gradually.

Yeah, I've tried explaining that, but it just causes more confusion.

Which is what I do, but despite that I still get hundreds (or thousands) of questions and complaints. It's quite annoying.

A possibly Solution here would be to add an “Update” Action to the Right Click Dropdown for Extensions.   The User can currently “Disable” Extensions from there, why not “Update”?   The sort of education and the habits that would be fostered would be preferable to sending Users to the Extensions Page itself and exposing them to the confusion of “Developer Mode” (we really don’t want Users there clicking things).
