I'd like to understand the logic behind how the background-size and transitions are implemented in v51.

In v50, this functioned like it does currently in every other current browser.  But, now (in v51) there seems to be this '-webkit-background-size' property which behaves differently than 'background-size' does. A transition for background-size (using percents) is ignored, but not for '-webkit-background-size'.

In v53 (dev version), it works the way it did in v50.

Are there a set of reasons why this change has been made for v51?

Thanks,
NG

Can you share some code?
Are you only using percents? And are you specifying both of the width and height?
It not, you are probably encountering crbug.com/616072.
