Hi,
I haven't been able to find a definitive answer for this question: does kiosk mode not work if you're running an extension that has a background task?
Our deployment platform is Windows7 + Chrome 53.x, and we depend on kiosk mode (this is an application that runs on touchscreen terminals). I developed an extension as part of our solution, and when the extension is installed, launching chrome with
chrome.exe --kiosk
..no longer works. If I disable or remove the extension, it does work. There are other extensions installed (e.g. Google Docs extensions), so the only thing I can guess is that having a background task in the extension breaks kiosk mode.
If this is the case, can someone tell me if there's a possible workaround? I'm considering converting the background task to an event page
https://developer.chrome.com/extensions/event_pages as a workaround, but don't know if that would also break kiosk mode. There are specific reasons why I think it should be a background task, but if kiosk mode works with event pages, it may be a possible solution for us.
Thanks in advance,
Davis
