Hi, is there a plan to have the default setting on to Enabled on android and iOS devices at some point in the updates? Reason being the proliferation of eddystone beacons is increasing and applications enormous but the everyday user would not know that the feature exists since its default to Disabled.

Hi Darryl,

Physical Web is currently enabled by default on Chrome on iOS -- when you add the Chrome widget to the Today View and have bluetooth enabled, you'll receive an opt-in prompt to enable the Physical Web when you are first near an Eddystone beacon. On Chrome on Android, it's also enabled by default -- you'll receive a notification letting you opt-in when you are first near a beacon.

However, with the recent launch of Nearby, you'll receive Physical Web notifications from Google Play Services directly. If you have Nearby enabled, Chrome on Android won't show Physical Web notifications to prevent you from receiving redundant notifications. More info about the Nearby launch can be found here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/physical-web-discuss/qbK305MtyLM

Best,
Ani
