How do you communicate with extension users?

I know there are a number of options for communicating with users. Clearly if you force them to sign-up to use your extension you will have their email and can email them. There are also push notifications you can use.

But I'd like to know your favorite methods and what you've had success with?

I just published my first extension called Remark It which is a commenting community tool where you can leave your remark on every webpage.
