tl;dr: The chromium issue tracker is migrating to Monorail on February 18, starting at 3pm.  The issue tracker will be read-only during the migration.  We expect to be back online by 7pm.

*** This is NOT a DiRT Exercise ***

The time has come!  Yes, the main chromium project (crbug.com) is migrating to Monorail, the replacement built by the Chrome Infrastructure team, as code.google.com is being shut down.

For details on the migration, including what to expect on migration day, the minimal changes you'll see in Monorail, and actions you may need to take (should only apply to API users, and should already be done), please take a look at our FAQ if you have not yet done so.

Don't worry, I'll send reminder messages the day before, the morning of, and once we begin the migration, just in case you page this out immediately.  If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact infra-dev...@chromium.org.

Julie, on behalf of the Monorail team

Exciting! Good luck.

What is the plan for open-sourcing Monorail? Any timeframe?

Yeah, we're excited too!

At the moment, there are no concrete plans to open-source monorail. However, as far as I know, the entire team would like to open-source monorail. We just haven't had the time to go through all the appropriate legal processes in the lead up to launch.

After the launch settles down, I'm sure we'll revisit this.

This is just a reminder that crbug will be turning read-only for the Chromium project in ~24 hours (at 3pm, PST, Feb 18, 2016) to perform the data migration to Monorail.  (Yes, I'll remind you again tomorrow when the migration begins, and, once we are all clear on Monorail)

In the meantime, I leave you with this: https://youtu.be/cptMcFrL_UM

And ... another reminder.  This migration is still on track for today, starting at 3pm.

And since I know you wanted to get "I've Been Working on the Railroad" out of your heads, I give you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZAhzVvgY-c

Does Monorail still support the email interface to updating issues?
E.g. can I respond to a notification email and write things like
"Label: Merge-Request-49" and the label will be applied?

Thanks,
-Christian

Yes it does.  And, the syntax for those commands is the same.

As with code.google.com, you can only reply to a notification email that was sent directly to you, which is the most common situation.

Thanks,
jason!
