Hi!

Whenever I run long-running commands (like a slow integration test), it might need to run for many minutes. If I just go off and do other stuff (e.g., not on my chromebook), when I get back, the network has disconnected, and I can't see the results of my test easily. When I do anything on the secure shell app, it clears the screen and asks me to reconnect. I'm not sure whether it's Chrome or xterm that "disconnects" but....is there a way to have xterm or something keep the connection alive so that this doesn't happen? Right now, I need to remember to type and random character and backspace it every few minutes or so, and if I forget, I need to go spelunking for tests results.

Thanks!

Terry

It isn't hard to interrupt an ssh session. I would use something like screen on the remote end. You can disconnect and reconnect as necessary. Reconnect from a totally different computer if you want.

I second using tmux or screen. I do use byobu which is a lightweight frontend for both.
