Any time I attempt to rename a folder on my thumb drive usb, I keep getting an error that goes:

an operation that depends on state cached in an interface object was made, but the state has not changed since it was read form the disk

What caused this error, and how do I fix this?

if you're using the CrOS Files app to manage a USB thumb drive you connected directly to your Chromebook, then Secure Shell isn't involved

it means this is not the correct group to report things.
this group is about the Secure Shell extension only.  you aren't using Secure Shell, so we can't help.  if you had a problem with Windows or macOS programs, would you post them here ?

please see the general CrOS help page:

FWIW, USB drives are now read-only on CrOS: https://support.google.com/techstop/answer/11065200?hl=en

this is a public group, and you're linking to a policy enabled on Google.com enrolled devices.  i doubt that is relevant to Eric.
