Best Ways to Promote a New Extension?

I just published a new extension, my first public one, a few days ago and very few ppl have tried it. I was wondering what others do to make ppl aware of their extensions.

Your question is now almost year old and it has now almost 12 thousands users. What have you used to achieve that?

I have published my extension last week Facebook Backup and I believe, that all users are my friends and family.

Its really hard to promote an extension personally, and I thought the Chrome Store is a marketplace where people can really discover new ones. Thanks for your email and the points. You are not wrong and I've been pushing it like selling insurance. I work on it so make is more useful and rich but also want to keep is generic so can be adapted by anyone. I have to find something better to solve then.

It's cool that you made this thing for your own needs; I've done that a lot myself.

But when it comes to sharing it with others, it's not clear from the name, screenshots, or description how this would be any better than any other "todo list / journal".
