Hello,

I'm working with a developer for a webphone application.

We are trying to figure out if it's possible for the extension to differentiate between the default communication audio hardware and just the default hardware on Windows OS > Device Mgr.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Differentiate in what way?
In what is currently enabled? In what the browser will be using by default?

The navigator.mediaDevices.enumerateDevices API (a web API, not a Chrome extension specific API) lets you enumerate the input and output devices. I am not sure it indicates the defaults, though.

I do not think there is an extension API for that.
