Hello Folks,

We are used to releasing frequent updates for our Chrome extension, and usually the review process only takes a few hours, which has always worked well for us.

For this latest update, however, we made a larger number of code changes, which resulted in the review taking around four days.

Unfortunately, the build we pushed—and which Google approved after those four days—was not correct, due to some mistakes on our end. We couldn’t release it to production as it was. We therefore rolled back to the previous version before sending Google a new build with only the two or three small fixes we had made.

It now feels like we are going through another manual review by Google, even though this time the update only includes a couple of minor changes spanning just a few lines of code. We suspect this may be because the review is always compared against the version currently live in production. However, this has created significant delays for us, as we’ve now been waiting for more than a week and we’re even wondering if there might have been an issue with the process.

Unfortunately, all of our marketing was based on the assumption that this version would be released last week, so we’ve had to push everything back.

We would therefore be very grateful to know where things currently stand in the process and if you could share any additional information.

Thank you very much for all your work and for allowing us to bring our extension to our users.

Hey Yannis!
Looking at the dashboard, I see a submission that was uploaded to your account on September 4, but is still waiting to be submitted for review - is it possible that is the one you are referring to? Otherwise, the most recent submitted item is what is live.

Hello Patrick, thank you very much for this quick answer, really appreciate it! ❤️

On our side, we followed the same process as usual to submit the extension, and since September 4th, version 1.6.3 — the one we want to push to production — has been marked as pending review, as you can see on these screenshots (they’re in French since my interface is in French).

This prevents us from taking any further action other than waiting for the review to be completed.

I am terribly sorry, but it seems like you are in a strange state. The team that would be able to debug this state is based on the west coast of america, so they won't be online for a number of hours. Would you be able to cancel your review and resubmit?

Oh... We want the fastest solution to get this new version of the extension into production because we are waiting from more than one week now.

Since the review can take several days to be approved, I’m afraid we might lose our place in the review queue if we cancel and resubmit.

Is there a way to get directly in touch with the team that can debug our state in order to avoid losing our place in the queue?

My point is that you do not appear to have a place in the queue - you seem to be in a state where the backend does not see the extension as needing review. If it is a simple change, then it would likely go through review quickly.

Unfortunately, as I mentioned in my first message, since we waited 4 days and that version was rolled back to the previous one, and then we submitted yet another new version, we’re worried that the difference is being checked between the current version in production and the new one we submitted, rather than between the last submitted version and the one we just sent, since it seems to go through the review process every time.

I also just got another piece of information: my co-founder sent an email to support and here’s what they replied, as if there were no issue at all on their side. What do you think? Is this almost an automated response, and they didn’t even check whether our request was actually bugged or not ?
