I've used the Rewriter API in the past, but notice it (and Writer) are no longer documented. However, if you follow the link from the Summary API to the GH explainer (https://github.com/webmachinelearning/writing-assistance-apis), you see them mentioned. Also, there is a link for a Writer/Rewriter specific demo here, https://chrome.dev/web-ai-demos/, that doesn't work in my Chrome while everything else does.

So - what's the TLDR? :)

Hi Ray,

These two Dev Trial APIs (Writer and Rewriter) are very much still on our radar and documented at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1WZlAvfrIWDwzQXdqIcCOTcrWLGGgmoesN1VGFbKU_D4/edit?usp=drivesdk, but other Origin Trial APIs (Prompt, Summarizer, Language Detector, Translator) are of higher priority at the moment. You will also have noticed that the API shapes of all APIs are being heavily reworked if you follow the explainer repositories.

Cheers,
Tom

As I've had multiple old demos break, I'm well aware. ;)

As for the doc you shared, does this fall into the category of "shouldn't be shared publicly but can be discussed here pseudo-private" type thing? (Giving a talk on all of this at Arc of AI next week.)

Yes, some of our own demos need fixing, too 🫣.

Correct, these are docs meant for participants of the early preview program. We prefer if you don't share them unless you are also sharing details about the early preview program.

Cheers,
Tom

I plan on mentioning they exist, but not demoing them at all. (Writer/Rewriter that is.)

Whatever works for you. You could show them, and point people at the EPP if they are interested in trying these APIs themselves.
