Hi CrUX users,

This is your monthly announcement that the latest dataset has been published to BigQuery. The 202004 (April 2020) dataset is now available and it covers 6,389,861 origins.

There have been some recent updates that you should be aware of:
  • The implementation of Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) was improved in Chrome to account for slow-loading images. The effect on sites' LCP should be minimal but in some cases you may see a slightly slower distribution or in rare cases too few LCP samples collected for it to be reported in the dataset.
  • Google launched the Web Vitals program and announced the intention to unify popular tools like CrUX around the three Core Web Vitals metrics: LCP, Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), and First Input Delay (FID).
  • There is a new experimental.country table in BigQuery that combines all countries and all datasets together into one optimized location, similar to the global table. This is a convenient way to query an origin's performance across countries. Try it out and let us know what you think.

If you have any questions about CrUX, feel free to reach out to us on any of these channels:

Cheers,

Rick

Thanks Rick!

If anyone's interested , the April data are already included in The Onely Map. It's a visualization of the effective_connection_type and form_factor.name dimensions from CrUX, showing how an average website is accessed on Chrome per country and month.

It looks like in April, the average desktop usage share continued to grow in many countries, particularly in Europe and the Americas, although not as significantly in the previous months.
