The registration form/process for the 77th Bush League event has been posted. I haven't registered myself (yet) but have been told the hotel information is displayed during the event registration process (not on the current flyer) ... it'd be great if we had two or three put-together or established chapter quartets from TC head over to Cadillac to participate. Activities begin on Friday; the contest(s) and concert are on Saturday. NO NEED TO BE A REGISTERED QUARTET (or even a society member). Evaluation and coaching are optional but, quartets that intend on staying together beyond the weekend are encouraged to spend the afternoon being coached (privately) by the judges. Lodging and some activities will be at the
Evergreen Resort. But, if you choose to not take a hotel room, drive-overs are welcome to fully participate. When calling for a room be sure to ask for the "Bush League" group rate... they've been known to occasionally name it like the beer "Busch" ... try that if they can't find our group on the first try.
THE DATES -August 9 & 10
FOUR (4) divisions:
- men's
- women's (we've never had a ladies quartet compete yet ... the first could be "Champions"
- mixed
- for score and evaluation only (quartets not eligible for the contests but wanting to perform and receive coaching)
LINK to Bush League Champions - This archive is 27 pages long, going back to "the beginning". Traverse City has had five champion quartets crowned at Bush League.
Trivia ... "Has Dick ever won?"
Answer - "no, but I have two 2nd place medals" (and had a lot of fun earning them!).
Call me at
(231) 350-8025 if you have any questions or need me to fill out a quartet (I'd be willing to sing tenor, lead or bass to two songs ... I'm allergic to baritone).
Peace (and, of course, Harmony),
Dick
