Remembering Jim Coats

We have received word that there will be no visitation service for Jim Coats. To those of you who knew Jim, it should come as no surprise that he elected for a "green burial". Here is the text of his obituary:

"Carlton James Coats, 88 of Traverse City, died Friday, September 13, 2024. A Natural Burial in the Green Section of Peninsula Township Cemetery will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 17, 2024. A future Celebration of Life will also be announced at a later date. Please share your thoughts and more."

Jim's daughter shared that the family will hold a Celebration of Life on October 12 (no further details at this time) and that the Unity Church will also celebrate his life at a later date following the family's event.

Although no longer an active chorus member, Jim maintained his membership through this summer and per policy, we will be making a donation in his remembrance to the Cherry Capital Chorus Endowment Fund at the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation. Individual contributions will be collected at our chapter meeting both this week and next.
