The Smith Math Team's biggest competition of the year, MathCounts, is over for the year - we finished 2nd in the state. Now we're working on the NC State Mathematics Contest...
On Thursday, March 17...12 Smith students headed to Wake Tech CC in Raleigh and 12 Smith students headed to NC A&T in Greensboro. The students compete in different divisions depending on what math class they are taking this year. The main prize this day was to qualify for the next month's Finals.
At Wake Tech, the Smith teams came in
2nd place for Math 1

At NC A& T, the Smith teams came in

Smith has 6 more Math 2 students heading to Hickory to try to qualify and 2 more Math 3 students heading to Winston Salem.
Checking in on...GIRL POWER! The Top 3 individuals in the Comprehensive division (which is the highest level) were all girls! Plus, a crew of 12 Smith 7th-grade girls are showing up on Saturday mornings to do some fun math with the Chapel Hill Math Circle on UNC's campus. Check it out...
