Smith takes 3rd place at State MathCounts Finals!

The Smith MathCounts team took five students to the State MathCounts Finals held at the North Carolina School of Science and Math in Durham on Friday, March 17th.  All five placed in the Top 20 in the entire state and Smith as a team brought home the 3rd place trophy against some very stiff competition.  Randolph MS from Charlotte was 1st and Mills Park MS from Cary was 2nd.  Phillips MS also had a good day and came in 7th.  This is the 6th year in a row that Smith has finished 3rd or better at States.

Ben Li - 10th place

Michael Dai - 14th place

Andrew Zhen - 16th place

The team is coached by Boyd Blackburn and Rachel Haber.

The Smith Math Team will be finishing its season of competitions with the NC State Math Contest - the qualifying round is coming up on March 23rd.
