Hello,

I am writing as a member of la Familia FPGB to ask that you keep the Glenwood STEAM and Mandarin programs together at their own school. As a parent who has considered private school, I have personally experienced the richness provided by the diversity dual language program. These programs provide a diversity of students and classmates that a private school could never offer. They are a unique and important asset to our district, and our children are lucky to celebrate and be fully immersed in other cultures during such formative years.

A commitment to maintaining the integrity of these programs together at their own building would send a strong message about our priorities as a district- I hope you choose to do this.

Dear Tara,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful message and for speaking up in support of keeping Glenwood’s STEAM and Mandarin programs together. Your words reflect a deep understanding of what makes our district special, and I truly appreciate your willingness to stand with another dual‑language community during such a difficult moment.

As you said so beautifully, dual‑language programs offer a richness and diversity that private schools simply cannot replicate. They create classrooms where children learn from one another’s cultures, languages, and lived experiences — something that becomes part of who they are for the rest of their lives.

FPGB and Glenwood also share something very meaningful: both are magnet schools, and families are not assigned to us — they choose us. Yet both schools consistently have the highest enrollment rates among all elementary schools in CHCCS. That is not a coincidence. It reflects the strength of our programs, the trust families place in them, and the value they bring to the district.

In a time of enrollment decline, the very programs that families actively choose — like those at FPGB and Glenwood — are exactly what the district needs to survive and eventually thrive. Your message captured that truth with clarity and heart.

Thank you again for your support, your vision, and your commitment to protecting the programs that make our district strong.

Warmly, Xu Proud father of two lovely girls currently enrolled in 1st and 3rd grade in Glenwood
