Dear Stakeholders Survey Committee Members,
Hope you had a very good starting 2013. We would like to inform you that last Friday we closed the survey fieldwork. As you know, the fieldwork started in the third week of December 2012 and we have been in contact with Globescan in a weekly basis. The following information is based in their reports to us and should be considered as preliminary provided that final data quality controls are in process at this moment. We expect Globescan to send their preliminary report by the last week of February. We will discuss that report and provide feedback so they can produce the final report to be publicly released. This will be part of Phase 3 of the Survey (Strategic analysis and reporting) which, following Globescan TORs, it includes advanced analytics, strategic reporting and implications, workshop presentation of findings.
Overall, according to Globescan, we are having very good results in terms of the rate of responses and CRP coverage.
Some key features of the Survey:
1) We gathered a comprehensive (almost 4.000) database of CGIAR stakeholders with at least one contact person for each. The database identifies which CRP provided the contact and it also includes those who participated and/or were inscribed in GCARD II.

Please note that each participant can choose which CRP to evaluate (they can even evaluate 3 of them if they wish) so this is not a direct indicator of the total possible surveys that can be filled for each CRP. This is why despite providing 20 contacts Genebanks has 64 evaluations (see below).
2) According to Globescan´s preliminary numbers we have 1.081 surveys completed. Interestingly, almost 22% (234) of the respondents declared themselves as “potential partners” and we have responses coming from 115 nationalities. Most respondents are from Academics and National Research Institutions (25% and 18% of the total, respectively), but there is a good mix of government, farmers, private sector, NGOs/CSOs, development organizations. Gender participations could also give ground for further analysis as 76% of respondents were males and 21% females (with 3% of no answer or “prefer not to say”). There is a good amount of additional information on respondents´ profile that Globescan will send in the preliminary report with the final numbers.
3) At the CRP level, the minimum set by Globescan to successfully apply their analytical model was to have 30 respondents for each CRP. We did not reach that minimum in Humidtropics and AAS. Please note that as any respondent had the opportunity to rate up to three CRPs in total the amount of “CRP rated” exceeds the amount of survey filled.

As you may see there are 137 cases in which the participants declined to evaluate any CRP (“No response”) but they may have evaluated the CGIAR as a whole. Furthermore, there are 319 uncompleted questionnaires (those who entered the link but did not finish the survey).
4) Apart from the initial invitation letter (signed by Frank) and the first contact made by Globescan where they provide the link to the online survey, two general reminders were sent since the beginning of the survey (in the third week of December). The first one was in December 20th and the second one in January 3rd. After this, last week we sent specific reminders only to the lists of CRPs with few respondents (i.e., AAS, Humidtropics and A4NH) and to those who did not completed the questionnaire. Following Globescan advice we did not send any other additional global reminder to avoid negative feedback from our stakeholders.
As abovementioned, before thorough data quality analysis, it is considered by Globescan that we have achieved our goals in terms of the rate of response and CRP coverage.
Please, feel free to make any comments or ask for further information if you have any doubt. We´ll send you Globescan´s preliminary reports as soon as it reach us.
Best regards,
Daniela
Dear Daniela
Thanks for feedback. Glad that we got a good response and look forward to getting preliminary analysis.
Best regards
