Dear Survey Committee members,
Over the last days since our last teleconference we have been intensively working with Globescan to refine the questionnaire taking into account your comments and suggestions as well as others received by the working group on capacity building, gender expert and communications team. We are attaching you the new draft of the questionnaire for your consideration. We would appreciate your comments, if possible, by Friday. Attached you will also find the type of organization list that we would use in the questionnaire.
We have been also working on the finalization of the CRP`s stakeholders list as well as in the list of participants/registered of GCARD II. We already have 11 completed lists and we will receive the rest by the end of this week. We had a very positive response from our CRPs and this could be considered a good outcome from this process by itself.
Globescan is working on the summary of the internal interviews and the regression as agreed, which they will be sent you shortly.
We look forward to receiving your comments of the questionnaire.
Thanks and best regards,
Daniela
Thanks Ken for your comments. We will incorporate them into the questionnaire.
Best regards,
Daniela

Subject: RE: questionnaire - Draft 2 - Stakeholder perceptions survey
Dear Daniela,
Thanks for forwarding this draft. We went through it and made the following observations:
They refer to CRPs but the new CGIAR branding guidelines clearly state on page 9:
- Never reduce 'CGIAR Research Program' to the acronym 'CRP' in external documents.
- Do not use the program number
- Use only approved names (ie Humidtropics)
They list:
1. Africa
2. Eastern Africa
3. Middle Africa (This should be Central Africa)
4. Northern Africa
5. Southern Africa
6. Western Africa
Question 15
Humid tropics (This should be Humidtropics)
Best regards, Ken

Dear Daniela,
I have a couple of comments regarding the revisions that were made. The questionnaire is definitely moving in the right direction and the emphasis that is now placed on capturing perceptions at the CG Consortium level is a significant improvement. I remain concerned however that the maintenance of questions pertaining specifically to CRP performance, in particular CRP partnership performance, will cause confusion and as a result generate a fair amount of measurement error.
I understand that it is an objective of this survey to capture a baseline of perceptions surrounding the CRPs; however, I believe that it is too early to do this effectively considering the lack of familiarity that exists concerning these research programs. Question 15A is an appropriate and needed indicator to capture respondents’ levels of familiarity with the CRPs. The questions that follow, though, I see as quite problematic.
I suggest we schedule a conference call before the end of the week to discuss this further so we may continue to move forward with the finalization of this questionnaire.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind greetings,
Teunis.
