Chandra Data Collection DOIs
We would like to remind all members of the Chandra community that all papers making use of Chandra data of any type (including archive observation and Chandra Source Catalog data products) should include a Chandra Data Collection (CDC) Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to increase the discoverability and citability of data.
DOIs for data are unique, persistent identifiers that ensure that data can be accurately cited and easily accessed in scientific manuscripts. The Chandra X-ray Center creates DataCite DOIs for all Chandra observations, catalog data products, and, at users' request, any set of Chandra data employed in a distinct publication (CDC DOIs). CDC DOIs conveniently allow the citation of a collection of Chandra datasets used in a manuscript through a single, ad hoc DOI.
For example, after the CDC DOI 10.25574/cdc.<collection_id> has been created for a given paper-related collection of Chandra data products, it can be cited in AAS journals using the specific LaTeX command:
\dataset[doi:10.25574/cdc.<collection_id>]{https://doi.org/10.25574/cdc.<collection_id>}
or, in all other journals it can be embedded in the text as a hyperlink:
\href{https://doi.org/10.25574/cdc.<collection_id>}{doi:10.25574/cdc.<collection_id>}
