Chandra Cycle 27 Call for Proposals Released 19 December 2024
The CXC is pleased to announce the release of the Chandra Cycle 27 Call for Proposals (CfP). The Call for Proposals, Proposers' Observatory Guide (POG), proposal planning software, and general information are posted on the "Proposer" web page at the CXC website: https://cxc.cfa.harvard.edu/proposer/.
Proposals are due: Wednesday 19 March 2025 at 6PM (US Eastern Daylight Time)
Proposers are strongly encouraged to carefully review the What’s New section of the CfP.
What’s New in Cycle 27
Distributed Peer Review: There are significant changes in the Chandra Peer Review Process starting with Cycle 27. For the first time, proposals will be subject to a distributed peer review process, wherein each proposing team will identify a team member as the designated reviewer responsible for the review process. The results of the distributed review will be used to inform the selection of most proposals, while Target of Opportunity (TOO), Large Program (LP), and Very Large Program (VLP) proposals will also undergo a panel review that will make final recommendations. Further details can be found in Section 9 of the CfP.
Archival Research and Theory/Modeling proposals will be solicited through a separate Call for Proposals: Proposals for Archival Research and Theory/Modeling proposals are not a part of this Call. Once funding for such programs is available, the CXC will issue a separate CfP.
