Inventory Tags - Barcode Types?

Good morning,

I am coordinating inventory work and would like to include a barcode on
each tag/sticker.  However, there are several barcode formats (Code 39,
Code 128, Code Interleaved 2 of 5) to choose from.  What is the best or
most compatible or recommended barcode format to use for tagging general
medical/biomedical equipment and furniture in a hospital setting.
