This webinar will deal with the regulatory, ethical, and practical issues around donating used medical devices to low resource countries.
A CMBES video that covers best practices will be shown.
A newly released CMBES guidance document on Medical Equipment Donations will be summarized. The objective of this document is to provide Canadian hospitals with the information required to undertake medical device donations in a manner that provides the best possible value to recipients, is compliant with Canadian regulations, and minimizes donor liability. The document includes a sample waiver document and a donations checklist.
The CESO initiative (OSHEN.CA) to facilitate medical equipment donations will be discussed.
