Hi Centenary Archers Club members,

Correction: In the last newsletter we listed the Marcus Anear coaching program starting this month. It actually starts on the last weekend of October. Apologies for the confusion. - David

Merch Alert - The order window for our club shirts is now open, get your orders in by 21 Sep! 👕

AGM Update - Pre-AGM nominations & motions are now closed. The AGM agenda is finalised. The auditor’s report & letter are available. The nominations in received order:

Don Dawson (Treasurer) 👏, Brian Dymock (President) 👏,

As the nominations above are unopposed, they will be formally ratified at, and become official immediately after the AGM. We still have a vacancy for a General Committee member to be filled at the AGM (agenda). Step up ladies! Additionally, if you are not able to attend the AGM, you can submit a Proxy Form. 📮🙋🗳

Etiquette

Please remember to sign-in via the club’s QR code when you first get to the club, and remember to always pay your ground fees. Doing this is required to cover us all by insurance. Of course, you can always skip the latter if you purchase an Annual Ground Fee.

“Alternative” Archery Facts

Did you know that whilst shooting at clubs & during competitions there is an expectation of shooting in silence & you can be cautioned for making noise. However at World Ranking events & the Australian Nationals all have music blaring, and during Match Play events, the crowd is expected to not be quiet while people are shooting.

I know. *shrug* Archery Rules. Go figure!

Tip of the Week.

👶 Newbies & Archery Gear 🏹

Finished a Come & Try or Beginners Course, and joined the club? Want to get your own gear? Unfortunately, there is no simple single recipe to follow. However, we have a guide for beginners on gear purchases & choices. It’s too long to list here.

For most beginners, we recommend using hire gear for a few months. See the guide for why. For new archers that just know that this is the sport for them, then by all means buy your own good gear from the start. Just know that you will outgrow & replace some of it really quickly. Again, that’s all listed in the guide.

Safety Tip

✏✒🛂 All one form, or None for All 😭🚫💸

Signing into the club when you first arrive is a requirement. It’s not just something you should do later. It is important that you, and your fellow archers do this. It affects everyone at the club. If you forget to sign in, you might think, “sure, I won’t be covered by Archery Australia’s insurance; I’m a good archer, I’m not going to hurt myself or someone else”. That may be true, but if any archer at the club gets injured and even a single archer has not signed in, the insurance company can refuse to cover us all. I.e. Your decision not to is not only selfish but can affect everyone else negatively & significantly.

Note for New Members: You must sign in even if you haven’t remembered your number yet. No excuses. Just sign in with a number of ‘0’ (Zero) until you get it.
