Etiquette

Please keep your gear & possessions within your shooting lane allotment. Move it with you if & when you change lanes/targets. We commonly think that space is a limited resource only on the shooting line. It’s an issue behind the waiting line as well. If you have lots of stuff, consider putting some of it up against the containers, or against the wall under the covered area. When a lane overflows it can have a knock-on effect impacting a lot of your fellow archers.

If there is someone else’s gear in your lane, politely ask whose it is, and if they can move it. I haven’t yet met an archer who wouldn’t eagerly comply with that request.

“Alternative” Archery Facts

The “Advanced Barebow” archery class has a chapter on “How to repair target butt frames”.

Tip of the Week.

💎🎯 It’s hip to bow square 🏃💪

Every archer should have a bow square, they are cheap enough. If you don’t, the club has some you can borrow. Among the top uses of a bow square are:

  1. Checking your brace height.

  2. Measuring & setting your nocking point.

  3. Checking your bow’s tiller values.

  4. An emergency arrow nock insertion & turning device.

Safety Tip

 🐦 Be a Plover, not a Fighter 🥚

Animals on our archery field have the right of way. While we normally chase off kangaroos and birds to clear the field & make it safe for archery, if plovers have made a nest in the middle of our field, we can’t really do much about it except avoid it. Plovers like to nest in the open on grassy fields, and they will aggressively defend their nest, attacking whatever they think threatens it. If you encounter a nest, please put up some traffic cones to mark the area so no one approaches it, and avoid those shooting lanes. Don’t try to shoo it away.
